The Lemonade War
On Friday April 28th all Kg-5th Grade students will receive a copy of the book, The Lemonade War (by Jacqueline Davies) as part of a special Lemonade Rally to be held at 1:30 in the Carver cafeteria. The Little Rock School District has partnered with The Rotary Club of Little Rock, Bank of the Ozarks, First Security Bank, Read to Them, and Economics Arkansas to provide these books for each our students.
Once our students have received copies of their books, we invite parents to join us in the fun journey of reading The Lemonade War with us. The book tells a story of sibling rivalry that teaches basic economic skills. Inside the back cover of each book will be a reading schedule that begins on April 28th and ends on May 17th. We will also share a brochure that contains a discussion guide for parents to talk to their students at home about the different concepts taught in the book. Please look over the brochure and consider joining us in all the fun!!!! (Please note- Some teachers may opt to keep the books at school until the class finishes reading it, but please join us by talking with your student using the Lemonade War brochure discussion questions for each chapter at home).
While reading the book, our students will also be participating in fun activities at school such as a door decorating contest and a special trivia question each day as part of our morning news. They may also win prizes for completing discussion questions with their parents, guessing how many lemonhead candies are in the library and many other fun activities. Beginning Friday April 28th spirit day will go YELLOW for the Lemonade War. Students may wear yellow shirts and school appropriate clothing each Friday until May 12th.
We hope you will join the fun and begin reading The Lemonade War with your student as soon as they receive their book. Please also feel free to join us for our exciting Launch Rally on Friday at 1:30 in the cafeteria.
Let’s make this a “SWEET” Read for all of our students!!!!! Join US!!!
